A lot of the problems of the world seem to stem from religions. Sure, problems occur when people argue the topics of 'gods' of all sorts, but too many people PRAISE gods of their choice for causing death to people!

Not only the muslim/islam extremists, but the western religions as well! Look at Bush, he keeps saying his God has told him to do these insane acts, killing many young adults for stupidity.

):

I've been a theologist since before high school (I was a strange, curious child) so there was really nothing to sway me about, but I wonder, very honestly, about other people.

This is partially for research of the world. :) So please don't come yelling at me to accept God/Allah/Buddah/whoever. (And don't pray for me please. While it's nice and all for you, it kind of makes me uncomfortable!) I've spent my time with them and more, and find that my own path is the one for me. This is simply to find out what the world does when the rest of the world goes crazy.

Thank you.

Some of you seem mad at me for not wanting to be your religion? :/ I just wanted to know if the wars of the world currently going on made anyone change their line of thinking. NOT how everyone but you (and your religion) is wrong. Sorry that you guys can't understand a simple line of questioning? :(

And to the fella who seems to think I have no joy in my life... I really do have a LOT of joy in my life! My boyfriend is going to become my husband in a couple of weeks, and we're both thrilled at the prospect. Due to me respecting HIS line of thinking, it will be a Catholic wedding. He also respects how I choose to be. As long as neither of us goes on mental killing sprees in the name of our beliefs, we're both happy with each other. Why can't you people get a clue on this? I don't want to be like you! :)

:) I am not American, but my dear boyfriend is. I admit fully to not being perfect. No one is. I wish more people would quit thinking they're better than ANYONE because they choose to follow anything. I'm sorry to have offended everyone on these forums apparently? :\

No, I am still a Christian

Sure, look around, it is an embarrassment to be a Christian in the context and understanding in which it is represented. Does it mean I don't belief in something or God. No, but I realize that although using the same words, we mean different things. And therefore, I have distanced myself from organized Religion. I can't stand it. I've tryed several times, but find myself walking out of the Churches in disgust of the sermons that are mindless, stupid and untrue. Kind of like the middle ages, when the Catholic Church would collect Money for prayers of the souls in purgatory. The exploitations are disgusting, and a dishonor to any reasonable, thinking, intelligent God or Creator of the Universe. I dont want to get started on the abuse in Politics, Business, you name it, Religion is " das Schlagwort ".

It Kills, as well as it brings Life.

No, I have not denounced my "religion" (My christianity) nor will I ever. And please, dont be like the rest of the people who judge all of christianity by one man in leadership over our country. Just because pres. bush (although a great man) is claiming things in christianity doesnt necessarily mean that 1. he's right or 2. that God is actually telling him to do things. He is not the only christian in the world... He is not God. He is a human being just like you... he makes mistakes just like you... he falls into sin just as easily as you do... although you choose to stay there. He is a man that wants peace for this great nation. I have friends and family over in Iraq fighting "the good fight"... and soldiers die everyday fighting to spread the freedom we have to get on a computer everyday and ask questions... 9/11 is coming again soon. and we should all be reminded of why we are fighting. we are fighting to bring vengence to our loved lives lost and to prevent another 9/11 from happening. the world is in war, yes... but at least let our soldiers know we love them and that they dont fight in vain for a country that doesnt support them. if not... go paint your VW Van with daisies and refuse to wear shoes...

So you are a 'legalist' having chosen the way of rote rather than reason! The work of the scribes is more important than the message contained therin! How sad! Sad because you will not allow Joy to be greater than a smile flirting at the corners of your mouth! the world goes crazy due to angst at no Joy! Joy is what shows in the lives of the purpose- filled because we know why we are here!

It's not just religion, it's people and their narrow minded views and absolute certainty that they are right. There could be only 2 people left on the planet, completely dependent upon each other for survival and they would still argue and fight over who is right or wrong. Religion just adds fuel to the fire.

I am neither Christian or Muslim. If I was I would simply not associate myself with those exstremists. I personally don't agree with the US still be over there. The patrons of the country have said they no longer wish to have the US there. We should leave so no more people are killed.

Ah, no... partially because I am not a part of the religions that are going through difficulty right now.. and even if I were Christian/Muslim I would know that all the idiots spreading violence are extremists and do not represent the majority of the religion itself. There are extremists in every religious group, it's just that in this point in history all of them are coming out of the woodwork at the same time, LOL.

Blessings and Light!

I can see why a person don't want to get into a religion but don't let the war and fights or debate stop you from being a believer.

I read the bible "mostly at home" and that way I come up with the message from the bible that not "brain washed" into my head.

Remember preachers, ministers, and Priest are only human they are full of sin just like we are.

Of nearly 40 active conflicts in the world, all but 1 involve muslims. These aren't religious wars, but a war of a religion.
