ITS A VERY GOOD THING TO DO...AND IF YOU PUT THE DINNERS THAT CAN BE REHEATED INTO A ZIPLOC BAGGIE THEN ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS PUT IT INTO A POT OF BOILING WATER AND IT WILL BE HOT AND READY TO EAT IN NO TIME...AND THE CLEAN-UP IS MUCH EASIER...opps sorry about caps... i make alfredo, spag and meatballs and lots of other things this way... and you can mix all the pastas right into the sauces and freeze...the pasta still taste great when heatted up. mash potatoes meatloaf almost anything you want.

It really depends on the food being stored. Some foods can be stored for a year or two in the freezer. Other foods will only last a few weeks or simply are not best saved. A good cookbook should have more info on this.
On the whole, though, your idea isn't bad (even downright good, depending on what you make -- see above). In fact, you're really just making your own TV dinners.

Its a good idea. Food can be kept frozen indefinitely, however some foods can only be frozen once and some cannot be frozen as they should not be reheated such as rice.
good meals to freeze are currys and chillis. just cook the rice on the night.

It's a good idea to do that. We make big pots of chili or tomato sauce, etc... and freeze portions. A good rule of thumb for keeping frozen food is 6 months. Make sure you seal it properly and label with date, to be safe.

I used to grow vegetables and shop for meats and then do exactly as you plan to.
It works great, as long as you wrap the food so it doesn't get freezer burn. Cooked food keeps about 3 months in the freezer.
