I want to do this new diet right. I am starting light excersise. Whats a good number of calories to set for myself?

I have heard that you should eat no less than 1200 calories per day or you are at risk of sending your body into a "starvation" mode in which your metabolism will slow down and you will actually burn less and less calories.

You should talk to a nutritionist rather than posting your question here. People are going to be rude to you and tell you how fat you are because of your BMI. BMI, by the way sucks. It does not account for body size, muscle, or anything other than your weight and height which does not give an accurate measurement of "how fat you are or aren't". I'm not an expert and could not offer suggestions to calorie intake, so I won't even try on that.
