If they're programs, use the add or remove programs function from the control panel. If it's just data, back it up to a cd-r or dvd and then just delete.

If you have any applications on your D drive, check to see if there are any that you do not need. Remove your old applications.
If you have the Windows XP OS on your D drive, you can remove all but the most recent set points. This will save you several MB of disc space. You can do this by running the Disc Cleanup utility. After the utility finishes running, you should be offered the option of deleting set points.

Try out some defragment utilities apart from the one which comes with windows. Some of these tools need less free space as compared to windows.

Delete them just like you would any files on our C drive
Move them from D drive to a CD or DVD
Move from D drive to C drive if there is room on C drive
If you have programs installed to the D drive (most programs install to C drive) that you can live without, uninstall the program(s)

start my computer left click to highlight D drive, then right click to see what is in there then right click to to have options and choices, then delete
