Ahaa! I heard this once and I didn't believe it but it WORKS!:

When you're thru chopping garlic just RINSE your fingers under the tap. DON'T RUB!! No soap, no rubbing at all. Goes away like magic. Try it! You'll see.

I've tried to figure out WHY this works, and my guess is that the smell comes from an oily substance and if you don't rub it in, it just sort of stays on the surface of the skin and running water just rinses it away. I don't really know.

This works everytime with oniony hands, so I'm thinking it should work also with garlic. If you try it, please let us know whether it works or not with garlic.

Onion smell on your hands is easily removed by washing your hands with any soap, but before rinsing the soap off, rub something stainless steel all over your soapy hands. It can be a butter or table knife (nothing sharp, please), the water faucet, spoon, etc......just as long as it is made of stainless steel. I use my water faucet.....it's very handy because I'm already at the sink, & it cleans my my faucet while it takes away the smell from my hands! What more can you ask?!

Try two things, rub fresh lime juice and let dry. This works wonders for Garlic and fish smell on hands, however if you are sensitive to citric acid use downy to rinse your hands in for a couple of seconds. Good luck.

This may sound silly but here goes, run the water grab a butter knife and holding your hands under the water rub the blade on your hands. It works marvelously. Also some lemon juice rubbed on the hands works but the knife works great.

Try rubbing a freshly cut lemon over your hands. Wait a few minutes and then wash with soap.

Rub your hands around a steel sink - there's somthing in the metal that gets rid of the odour.

Rub your hands on something that is stainless steel - like your kitchen faucet. Or, pour regular Listerine over your hands. These work!

If you have a stainless steel sink, rub your hands all around on that. For some reason it works.
