Yes. But only true silence. This means absolute withdrawal from communication. In other words, if you're communicating on the internet, such as here, then keeping your mouth shut all day really won't accomplish much. Close down the senses through meditation. no, silence doesn't stop your mind or your observations. The whole meditation thing is very Hollywood right now so it spreads. Silence doesn't lead to selflessness, in fact it might make you more critical of others, you should work on compassion and understanding instead of silence
