I like milk and I had been drinking it without any problem. But for about 9 months now I can't drink milk without having indigestion, gases, swollen stomach. Some people say it's common with African-Americans. Is there anything I can do to avoid this problem? I miss having my cereals for breakfast. Serious answers needed. Thanks

You are probably becoming lactose intolerant. You can use lactaid or you can try out soy milk. Soy isnt bad if you get the flavored kind. Vanilla is good on cereal.

My problem started a few years ago and now I cant even stand to smell cheese. I used to love cheese. So you might be just starting with this. If you take Lactaid..DO NOT drink alcohol! I tried it so I could drink some wine with pizza....you will get very sick.

Sounds like all the right answers have already been given to you! Our chemistries/ hormone change from time to time. It happens. If you are sure that it is the milk and milk products causing the problem and not something else like irritable bowel syndrome, then the best advice to buy the milk for the lactose intolerant. Anyway, it's worth the try. Better than having gas and being miserable. Yes, you are right, about the African Americans having a pre- disposition to this problem.

Had the same problem, get some lactaid (it doesn't cost that much), and take it before you eat your cereal, or anything with dairy, and you won't have that problem. It was annoying for me too, I love to drink milk, the lactaid pills help, I think they also have lactaid in milk too.

you're allergic to take advantage of. actually you're allergic to the LACTOSE in milk. you've 3 thoughts: a million.ward off it 2.Get lactaid caplets (walmart has their form that works basically as well) 3.Drink lactose loose milk and ward off some thing with milk as a real ingredient. i'm allergic to take advantage of, I favor to drink almond milk or Silk vanilla. I ward off such issues as ice cream and yogurt because of the extreme milk content. Cheese should be ok yet in small parts. it type of feels to run in households too, a number of my cousins and a couple of of my aunts are allergic to take advantage of and so is my son.
