Yup. The gene for your head hair/color is totally separate from the gene for your beard.

My father and my son have the same problem. You've got a recessive red hair gene. Somebody in your family had red hair once upon a time. My son also has a nickle sized patch of hair that is red on his head.

Its the pigment in the color. As I have a blonde head, blonde hair on legs, and dark in another region. As a hairstylist we have learned its the pigment and the contributing pigments in the shaft.

Genetics, so many things can happen on the count of genetics. I have my father's eyes, chin, hair color, you name it, but I do not have his nose, his height, or his hands. I have my great-grandmother nose and some of her height, and I have my grandmother's hands. Genetics is a roll of the dice sort of thing. Any combination can come out of the combinations that are put into it.
