This question was so gross, my response within it didn't suffice.

Gary, thank you for the answer. Your words and form are in great contradiction with one another. You show who you really are, and illustrate my point perfectly.

BTW: I am a recovered Christian. I spent 25 years in the study of the Bible and am now free from tunnel vision and ignorance.

Any loved one of mine who has died, was a "born-again Christian." That is the least of moy concerns, and also offers nothing in the way of "peace." To me, it's irrelevant. And to ask the question, after the fact, while Steve Irwin's family is suffering, is ignorant, arrogant and insensitive. It's the same as kicking someone when they're down. You can get a blow in, but you cheated! What happened to the God-given gifts of love and sensitivity -- and knowing your humble position on God's Earth?

I really liked the post ...take your judgmentalism somehwere else!
He had every right to ask the question...you should ask yourself why you are so offended....Is it because you know you are headed for hell?
So get a life... and quit acting like a total ignoramous.
Jesus said: "I am the Way, The Truth, and The Life; no man can come to the Father except through me".

When you meet God, I think you will see things differently. When people give their lives to Jesus the world takes on a totally knew perspective (and it has nothing to do with the indivdual) they suddenly become concerned with the things of heaven, so try not to judge if you dont know about the things of heaven. Yes , I agree that the timing of that statement may have not been good, but nonetheless she is caring for people and their souls and that is something that must concern a Christian, because it was Jesus first who cared about peoples souls.

Asking after the Fact serves no purpose whatsoever. It's both ghoulish and insensitive to both the family and to those who respected him as a person. Implying things like "well he burns in hell now" is one of the most disrespectfully evil things that many so-called Christians love to do. His fate, is between Him and Whomever it is he worshiped(if he worshipped at all), if you can't say anything nice or comforting then STFU.

Christians belive that a person who has given their life to God(through christianity) and tries to live by Jesus' principles is converted or 'saved'. Saved as in will be saved from the torment of hell which is what the religion teaches will happen to 'sinners'. When someone dies and that question is asked, its usualy in refrence to trying to decide if that person has'gone' or will go (it varies depening on the christian denomintation) to heaven or hell.
If you lost someone to death, my condolences. Time heals all wounds.

Saved from what? I believe Soul's journey never ceases because the body dies. God has a place for every soul within and outside of the worlds of matter, energy, time and space.

God is real and you should do some study for yourself in the Holy Bible about what takes place after a person dies physically.

it depends on the person really...
but if would want to assume the best in people...
the person asking would probably want to find out if anybody out there have information whether or not the person who passed away was able to accept God's gift of salvation during his/her lifetime...
for that information is valued among people who have shared the Gospel to the person who have passed but have no personal knowledge if he/she really received it....

I don't dare answer this as openly & honestly as I'd like to. Most would say it's because they care, but that's not how the message comes across, no matter what they meant.

We want to know if they believed in Jesus Christ or not.
John 14:6-Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
The Father (Holy Father) is the one that will decide who get's into Heaven; and the only ones getting into heaven are those who accepted Jesus Christ.
So when we ask that question we want to know if we'll see him/her in heaven or not.

I don't know, but maybe they want to have an idea if the person is in heaven in eternal bliss now.
