Should be the same as someone who has hallucinations as that is what religion is.

Yes ,anyone else who believes something is real and not there is usually diagnosed with some mental disorder.
Why should religion be any different.
I think it is called being delusional .

Oddly enough, most of the characters in the bible would have been committed into psychiatric hospitals if they were around today. And a few, such as Abraham (for attempted murder), or Lot (for incest and rape), would be in prison. Strange how Christians believe Abraham was told to kill his son but they recoil in repulsed disbelief at the idea that someone like Andrea Yates claims to have been in communication with God.

Condition. If it was a 'disability' the taxpayers would have to pay for them to not work due to their disability!

It depends; I don't think my child has a mental problem for alking to her imaginary friends. Now, if she told me her imaginary friend talked to her, it gets a little touchy, I would need to be sure she was just pretending. If she said her imaginary friend dictated her a book, and everyone had to follow it or face some terrible torture, she needs to be medicated.
