1. Maybe the real reason polygamy has existed at any point in time is because the faithful men the other women would have married had died in war or would have been about to die in a war. It would have been mean to say to the women that they had to marry someone without high standards who wasn't interested in religion or defending the United States. We can't account for how things worked out in ancient history, but there sure were a lot of wars back then as well. I think polygamy was only a temporary principle, and there is someone for everyone. The stuff that goes on today is absolutely not approved of by the official Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and if you want to check out the news, these polygamist leaders are going to be prosecuted more fully from now on - namely Warren Jeffs to start. They are part of a break-away group and are not affiliated with the Church.
2. About blacks - I am not sure why you say Mormons didn't like black people. I love to make friends with all races. Are you referring to the Priesthood being extended to them in 1978? It may be that God was waiting for a larger group of future leaders to be ready for it all at the same time. It's not our place to say when God wants to do something. I do know the prophet in the 1970s, Spencer W. Kimball, prayed for a long time to know if the Priesthood could be extended to the blacks. He had a great love for all the people of the world. I have a little book about ***** pioneers that is pretty interesting. If you want a copy I can send one to you. Have a happy day, and I send you a gummy bear.

Blacks--yes, the Mormons were against slavery. Joseph Smith suggested using federal funds to purchase all slaves and set them free. Blacks were baptized and enjoyed full fellowship in the 1830s, while most other Christian churches at the time were completely segregated. The KKK considered the Mormon faith to be one of its greatest enemies. Hmmm.... yeah, I guess the Mormons don't like black people.
Polygamy--it's not practiced anymore, but God did command it at one time, as he did in times past. What about Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, and Solomon? I guess they were all messed up, too.

I think their old beliefs were messed up. I am glad to see anyone change, if they are confident in the change they are making. It is an attempt. I have met several I like, and several I don't get along with. But I think this is just the law of averages, tho, cause you are going to have that no matter which group of people you are talking about. The main thing is that we must remain objective and love our neighbor...

We believe dark skin was a curse from God and that is why they could not hold the priesthood, but it was revealed that it was now OK, (I think Spencer W Kimball was the prophet at that time.) Also, there is so much untrue info about the practice polygamy, it was not practiced by every member of the church or for very long.
We believe in modern day revelation. When the Lord gives a commandment, does it matter what His reason for it is? Should we not trust that He knows what is best??
Choose to believe or not, but at least do not be mislead by false information about us.

You do, of course, realize that one of the reasons they were driven out of Missouri in their early days was because they were opposed to slavery, right? But, hey, let's rip on the Mormons for being "racist" when our country used to think nothing of buying and selling people...
And the polygamy thing - read your bible. Most of the biblical prophets were polygamists. Why aren't you, if you believe in the Bible?

I know many Mormons and they have no issues with the black community. As for polyagamy, even though the Mormon Church has stated it is no longer a part of their doctrine--it still is going on

It's just part of their religion. They have a set of rules they live by. Poligamy became extinct years ago. So it's a thing of the past.

I don't agree with their religion, which is why I left it. But I don't care if they believe it. It's their choice. I bet I don't agree with your religion either, and I bet I think it is just as silly. You have to be tolerant of people.
