needs rear tail light lenses, front brakes (& possibly rotors), needs an alignment, has 164,000 miles. I've been offered "a deal" at $2,500.00. Any advice?

What engine does it have? I have a 1996 Ranger with the 3-liter 6-cylinder engine and it has little power. Mine is a manual transmission and it would be worse with an automatic. I would not get the 3-liter engine again. The truck has been very reliable but it just has no power.

A lot depends on the shape of the rest of the truck. It's not a bad truck but brakes, lenses and an alignment will cost you at least $500, maybe more depending on rotors. If you do the work yourself, figure on $250, and you'll still have to get an alignment. I'd say to hold out for $1,500.
