I'm looking for signs & criteria so that I can not waste any more time than is necessary with women that aren't going to work out for me.
I have a few ideas, but please add your own & comment on mine.
-Kids with a bad ex
-Certain manifestations of feminism
-In a job that she hates with no plan for improvement
-Kids with multiple men
-A highly messed-up family
-Few, weak friendships with other women

You do have some valid points there, but always be sure not to judge a book by its cover. That's not really giving someone a fair chance. Especially if she turns out to be the one for you, and you'd never know it, because you didn't give it a shot based on the "criteria." Even if there is some kind of baggage, just remember that people can change if they really want to. A lot of positive change comes with age, too. Many girls that you may not have given a second thought to, could have grown into stable, caring, and well-grounded women.

I understand that you're tired of being hurt, and I don't blame you. My advice, though, other than seeking out this negative behavior that could be dangerous, is to just not rush into anything. If you like someone, it never hurts to just date for a little while with no strings attached. See where it goes from there, and base your decision about her on what you learn from your own personal experience with that particular person.

Good luck, though. I do hope you find that special someone. No one deserves to be alone!

the first thing she does after u ask her out is hit u up for money; constantly talking about her ex then swearing she's over him; constantly on her cell-phone while ignoring u completely; always talking about how her kids new things while looking hard at u. there's also the other side of the coin: she wants to know what u're doing & who u're w/ ALL the time; she wants u to get rid of all u're female friends; she demands that u spend all ur free time just w/ her.

i don't necessarily agree with your ideas - you should just observe her behavior in general - how she treats other people and how she talks to you - does she seem genuine or is she self-centered? Don't jump into anything too soon - take the time to really get to know someone before you get too involved and set yourself up for hurt.

see how a person acts with wait staff in a restaurant or any other service people. if your partner treats them poorly, chances are that they are not a very compassionate person and are very self centered.
