I honestly can't believe your humane society said they'd put them down!! I'm not calling you a liar, just saying I think the people at your humane society are a bit lazy and quick on the draw when it comes to euthanizing. I'm sure they have foster parents available who have experience socializing kittens.
Anyways *stepping down off my soapbox*, 8 weeks definitely isn't too late to tame them. Like everyone else said, it will take time and patience, and I doubt they'll ever be as easy-going as other adult cats who were properly socialized at a young age, but it IS possible.
And kudos to you for wanting to help them! The world needs more people like you.

There is a good possibility that they can be socialized. It is a little late, five or six weeks would be better and it is certainly worth a try. They will undoubtaby be quite "hissy" and it will take a lot of patience on your part.
You can give them the protection of your home and you can spay and neuter them at around five months. You would give the basic shots and tests for FIV and feline leukemia. If they don't socialize well then they can be returned to their original colony near your husband's company if someone will take the responsibility to feed them.

Your new found friends can be socialized!!!!They might not seem friendly now-but if you do trap them you can keep them confined in a kennel in the area of your house, garage, office etc. with interaction and noise-but no frightening noises-just friendly and caring talk while their confined will do wonders. A medium size kennel for a dog would be suffcient. Just keep them dryfood and water and a litter box supplied for their needs whil confined, after a few weeks they will be coming to you to be loved.

Yes, they can be socialized. however it takes time and patience. I have 2 ferral cats and one has become very tame and cuddly, the other one tolerates being touched, however it isn't friendly and usually runs off if someone comes around. Wear leather gloves to take them out of cage because cat bites and scratches can be very bad. If you bring them home and feed them etc. even if they don't become tame, they'll hang around. Put shelter outside for them and good luck!!

of course but its going to take time and patience. you and your husband are going to have to earn their trust and love slowly.after you trap them bring them home and then to a vet to get wormed/deflead and some shots. then bring them to a quiet room in your house. lock them in there with litter and food and water. for the first few days sit in the room and talk to them . offer toys and watch them play. after a few days their natural curiosity will set in and they will see you arent a danger or a threat. then you cant start offering your hand for them to smell. after that the next step is getting theem to let you pet them. once you've master that and you can see they are using the box you can let them run free in the house and you can either find them new homes or keep them yourself.

We have tamed ferile cats found on the property. It takes a while and they are always a little crazier than the fully domesticated ones. It takes al ot of time and attention to build their trust.

I think you will be very suprised at how fast they become tame. They will learn quickly not to be afraid. You will need gloves or something to protect your hands when you first handle them they will be freaking out and will try to bite and scratch but will learn very quickly. GL
