Currently I am without health insurance (I pay for it monthly through my company, but when it comes time to use it they conveniently lose my information {not my company, but the insurance company}). I am currently experiencing flashes of light in my peripherals (out of the side sides of my eyes) and just now a lymphoid under my right arm has begun to swell and sore. Any idea of what this could be, should I be scared?? Help me.

Consult an ophthalmologist and check your retina. Sometimes, the detachment of retina may be the cause. Please see the webpages for more details on Detachment of retina.

I don't think those two problems are related, though they probably could be in some wierd way.

I don't know how old you are, but I'm assuming you're young (like 35 or younger). The swollen lymph node under your right arm probably means you're fighting off an infection and that your immune system is doing it's job. I could be wrong though - if you're female, it might be breast cancer. There are lots of possibilities, but fighting off an infection is the most common cause. It probably wouldn't hurt you to wait a few days to a week to get it checked out, unless it's hot, red, tender, or very painful - or very large.

There are lots of reasons you might see flashing lights in your peripheral vision - silent migraine, standing up too fast are two of the most common. Increase your fluid intake and wait a few days to get it checked out, unless it interferes with your daily life or you have numbness or tingling on one side of the body, facial slackness, slurred speech, a severe headache, or any stroke symptoms.

If you're older, ignore everything I just said and get checked out soon.

You need to get that situation with your insurance company rectified - go all the way to the top if you have to. Your current problems might not be anything, but you will probably need that insurance for one thing or another.

A simple ER visit is often over $1500.00.

If your expierencing flashing of lights, get to the Emergency department. You have swellings as well may be a sign of septicememia since this is effecting the brain.

Infection of the brain can do things like this.

The lught flashing is due to the visual cortex being over-stimulated and so you may have a convulsion.
What ever you do, DO NOT drive; get an ambulance.

Go to the ER. They have to treat you and if you're paying for insurance you must have it. My mother and mil had flashes of light and it was a vitreus or something and not serious. It could be though so get it checked. It seems weird these two things would be related. Go to the doctor and pay out of pocket if need be. Your life is worth it.

I would report your health insurance company's behavior to your employer's Human Resources Department and get to a doctor's office as quickly as possible.

painful lumps in your arm pit, could be either from an infection, but it can also be caused by shaving, or sweating...sometimes i get a painful lump in one of my arm pits...it goes away in a few days..as for the flashes of light..i think that sometimes that is normal for every one, any number of things can cause that..even sinuses..sometimes the presure from your sinuses, since there right there near your eyes, can cause the flashes, and if you do have a sinus infection, it is possible that your glands are also swollen from it...

You need to go to the doctor and be checked. It could be something that needs to be treated , or could be nothing, but your life and health is worth having it checked.

If you are worried go to the ER....tell them to set you up with a payment plan for the cost of seeing a doctor.
