I'd say Visa because it's excepted in more places than American Express... MasterCard is about the same as Visa... You should go with the card that has the lowest APR... trust me... Some APR's out there will just kill ya... At least in the USA .... I'm not sure if it's the same in Shrilanka... You should check some websites and find one that suits your needs...

Really it all depends what you are looking for in a credit card. If you want a rewards card there are several that you might choose including Discover , Amex or Citi and Chase cards. Some cards give you 5% back on everything you purchase. Some give you great airline points or hotel points. You may need a card that is accepted every where then I would choose a Visa or MC. Take a look at the cards at the site below to see what is avaialble

I don't see a difference between VISA and MasterCard. It seems to depend on the individual terms, interest rates and programs that the lenders offer. American Express technically isn't a credit card. It works under different payment terms and is classified as a Travel & Entertainment Card.

These days it’s a mix of APR and what extra goodies you get from your card. Do you get free miles on any airline with no blackout dates? Do you get student extras (i.e. lower APR for students enrolled in college?) Do you get cash back on purchases? If you don’t plan on paying off our balance every month, then APR is a big deal. Beyond that, see what extras you get for your card. A hint: Visa card companies offer much better incentives than American Express…and Visa is accepted more worldwide.
