Absolutely! Why should anyone have to suffer for days, weeks, months, or even years from a painful disease? Perhaps there's not even any physical pain, but it's one of those diseases that destroys your brain. Why don't we have the option of leaving this world with some dignity instead of drooling on our chins and crapping in our pants?

Yes I do believe that they should have that choice. Why should terminally ill people be treated differently from the rest of the population. We all have the choice of ending our lives if we wish. The difficulty comes for the terminally ill who are too weak to take their own lives and require assistance. What we need therefore is a way of satisfying the courts that it was the wish of that person to die and, had they been able to, they would have taken their own lives. Otherwise the concept of assisted suicide is open to abuse.

Yes, Terminally ill only.
However, their wish should be approved by at least 2 doctors to make sure there is no hope for any quality of life in the future.
They could just be having a bad day or week, just like when you had a bad flu or hang over you were dead.
Some children would love to pull the plug on their parents just to get their possessions.

yes i do believe that, i have watched two people very close to me die a very slow and painful death, and they both believed the same as me, the only thing stopping them, was the fact that they were both too ill to end things themselves and would have required help from us, the family. LET THE LAW CHANGE NOW

Yes. Its too bad that people from the UK either have to commit a crime to help aged loved ones or go to Switzerland. When its time to die it should be in a place of your own choosing.

Yes I do. They have a death sentence hanging over them and unlike the rest of us, who secretly believe we are never going to die, they have to face it.
Could I help someone to die, or sit and watch them through it? I really don't think so. I am a terrible coward and even knowing that they are going to somewhere where there is no more pain, I am too needy to help them go.

Any able bodied person can privately choose to end their life at the time and in a manner of their own design - regardless of the perceived morality or legality of that decision. Ultimately, it is one of the few things we are truly free to do. So why should that choice be denied somebody who is less able? It is Equal Opportunity taken to its extreme and logical conclusion.

you can in some European countries but I think its wrong. What will it lead to? Older people feeling they are a burden and asking to be put down?

Their are people who have said they wanted to die when they are in tremendous pain and have later changed their minds!

Fact is and its not nice but when some very deformed babies are born in the UK the doctor will ask the parents if they want to 'Stop treatment.' What they mean is starve the baby to death. No one talks about it but it happens.

We are in the realms of abortions and playing God here. I would hate to watch someone I love die and I do not blame people who commit 'Mercy killings' for loved ones. I am afraid what such a law could lead us too.

YES! We, as a society do not expect an animal to suffer, so why should humans? Why shouldn't they be allowed to die with some dignity and not spend their last moments writhing in agony?

Yes definately. Why do we try to drag people's lives out when they don't want to! Quite a lot of these people are in pain, we wouldn't let are dogs, cats suffer why let people suffer. The world sometimes doesn't make sense!
