I use sausage with it too, and add flavored canned tomatoes to spice it up. Make it your stew and add what everyone in your house hold likes, i serve with cheesy bread, a freinds serves with rice and leaves potatoes out. I brown my hamburg before crock pot, and add everything put inon low and go.

Simmer carrots, corn, onions, garlic, tomatoes and well-drained kidney beans in a pint of beef stock for 30 minutes. Then add one cowboy and put in the oven for 2 1/2 hours at 180 degrees centigrade. Delicious.
Do NOT use one of the cowboys from Brokeback Mountain - you will find it too sweet.
