Do not bring anything. Anything you bring will be shipped back at your expense. Have whoever comes to see you at graduation bring anything you will need for A school. Bring as little as possible, not even all the stuff on the list they give you.

Do NOT bring makeup. They will make you throw it away. You are not allowed to wear any makeup in boot camp. They might let you wear it once for the portrait day (about week four into boot camp). Have your parents mail you your make up to you but if you are a bad recruit, the RDC's (you'll learn about this) will make you throw it away.
The Navy will outfit you with uniform coats and jackets. You will NOT be allowed to wear any sort of civilian clothes at all. When I went to boot camp, I went with the clothes on my back which was a pair of running shoes, jeans and a t-shirt. You can bring PLAIN white sports bras and underwear, absolutley NO logos. After boot camp, things will be a lot easier. Good luck!

Dont bring any more clothing than you will need for a couple days. They will give you all the clothing, winter coats, gloves, etc you will need. Any non-issued clothing will be locked up until after you graduate.

for after Boot Camp.. wait until you get to A school, before asking for someone to send your things to you. The chances of you taking any time off between Boot camp and reporting to A school are very slim. You won'thave earned any leave by that time, and no leave is usually authorized during school, unless there is a Holiday break(Christmas and New years)

Anything you bring, outside of a set of civilian clothes, will be sent to your home in a box. You will be able to buy makeup at the exchange later on, but you won't need it for a few months. Everything else you will need will be issued to you.
Check with your recruiter, I might be too far in the past.

Bring your wallet, ID and 20 bucks in cash.
All clothing will be issued, and any non-issued clothing will not be allowed to be worn. (actually, it will be packed away and inacessible to you during boot camp).
This includes coats. The navy has warm enough coats for you, trust me.

When I went to boot camp I was told to bring only navy issued items. my only personal things were my wallet, my watch and my cigarette lighter.
The wallet and lighter were taken from me when we got off the airplane and given back when we graduated. I was a boot camp watch orderly so I had to keep the time.
