Well if it was the mother/father of your child/children then yeah i can see why you would be so involved with them being in there but if it was just an ex...would you be at their side 24/7 and tell everyone how much you miss them.

I don't see why it would be a problem to be by their side in times like this. This person is still a human being no matter what happened in the past. Right now you should be a friend to him nothing more, nothing less. Everything else should be put aside because it really isn't important at the moment. The only thing that's important is you being there for him until he's well if this is something you really wish to do. It doesn't mean that you have a realtionship with each other all over again, and it doesn't mean you want to be with this guy. It simply means your being a compassionate human being and your being a friend as well. A person truly acts like an adult when they can put the past aside and focus on what's important. If this guy gets better and he makes it out of the hospital then you can go on with your life as before. Atleast you will feel good about being a good person inside regardless of what's going on. I am a firm believer that once you truly love someone, you will love them for a lifetime. Not all love is good for us, and you're right he's an ex for a reason; however a scary dramatic event can bring back those feelings of love in a hurry. I know...I had broken up with a guy that was involved in The Good Guys shooting, the evening of the shooting there was no other place I would have been other than in the front of The Good Guys store waiting to find out if he was ok. I had dated him for almost 4 years, and my love for him was still very strong, regardless of whether we were together or not. I just needed to know that he was going to be alright. when i was reading your question i said to my self he is an ex for a reason. so i'm with you! if someone is hanging around an ex then they don't want them to be an ex in most cases...
in a general care for any of my ex's if found them in the hospital i would send a card maybe if that! I don't have hard feelings for my ex's but i don't see a point in keeping them active in your life! well unless your a cheater then keep all that backburners burning!
now if someone is saying how much they miss them then that person needs to sit down and go over what they want in a realationship and live as a hole! because it's unfair to the current realationships they are in!

Sometimes, he's a ex because the marriage died, but the love still remains. Some people who love each other deeply just can't make a marriage work. Perhaps this is what's happening in your instance?

well if he went to the hospital is because he cares a LOT about you, he could have just give you a call, but he whent all the way not only to be with you, but he used this hospital thing , as an excuse.
don't tell him you miss him though, let him be the first
