I went on vacation and the person watching my house let her dogs sleep on my bed and couch. All my stuff stinks. I've washed all my blankets 3 times and they still stink. Anything that can get out the smell? A certain brand of detergent maybe?

for all of you saying febreeze, it seems to have worked on the couch, but the comforters and blankets still stink badly.

Yeah febreeze should help, but you need to take your things to a laundromat. Wash them in the big washer with a strong detergent like Tide. Sometimes the reason your things don't smell clean is your water. If your water is not clean, it will not rinse away all the odor. So try going to another town or putting a filter on your washer. Febreeze should cut it though on the couches. Just spray it on a few times a day.

I have a dog and he always jumps on my bed even when hes not suppose to and what I found that works and the only stuff that works is I wash my comforter on the Heavy Duty mode with the green bottle of ALL detergent and then I dry it and put in 3 sheets of Bounce Fabric Softener Sheets with Febreze and it gets all the smell out..

In addition to febreeze, baking soda works well to absorb odors. You can either use the regular kind, or a shake on scented kind that arm and hammer makes just for cleaning. Sprinkle this liberally on furniture or other things that can not be washed. Let it sit for an hour and then vacuum off. After the baking soda treatment, use febreeze. This works well for my dog, who thinks that all the furniture in the house is hers.

There is a product available at pet supply stores and at walmart that is called "Simple Solution". It's an enzyme cleaner that removes pet stains and odors. You can use it on furniture, carpets and in the laundry. It costs around $17 a gallon, and comes in smaller spray bottles for less. Make sure you shake it well before using it, the enzymes tend to settle in the bottom during storage. I've used it a lot with my 2 dogs and 5 cats- it really works.

No disrespect intended to the other answer providers, but this method is the one you want. It just works. Febreeze isn't up to this task.

Go to a pet store and buy an enzyme-based liquid product that is usually sold to address urine stains. Just soak your dry comforter in this solution, then allow it to completely air dry. The odor will be gone. You may choose to launder it again after treatment to give it that soft feel again.

Sometimes this product is called NATURE'S MIRACLE, but there are several similar products that work the same way.

Try washing in white vinegar and water. You may want to let it soak for a while. Rinse as usual and if possible hang out to dry. The other thing is to go to a pet store and buy an enzyme cleaner or a product called Odorban (not sure of spelling). Good luck.

Buy Febreeze. It got the horrid grandma smell out of my things after my grandmother stayed with me for two months. Spray a LOT of Febreeze on your things, and try to air them outside if you can, if not open all windows.

Buy some dryer fabric softner sheets and take your comforter to a commercial laundry put it in the dryer with a couple two three of the dryer sheets and tumble on air or low heat for about 30 miuntes if this still dosen't help I would take it the the dry cleaners and tell them what odor you are trying to remove and they should beable to help you.

wash in tide, then use downy softener, then spray in febreeze. if this does not work she must have let them piss on your stuff, so you go to the vets office and they have a deodorizers there for that particular smell
