I think religion deserves to be banned. Religion is really just evil in disguise.

Religion is responsible for the majority of wars, conflict and murder of innocent life since humanity began. There is considerable evidence to classify religion as evil, and talk of religion (Gods etc) should be banned. Because the records prove over and over again throughout humanity that religion is clearly responsible for crimes against humanity, taking part in any religious activity should also be outlawed and made a criminal offence.

The world would be a much happier and peaceful place if religion ceased to exist. Although there are some decent religious believers and preachers, they are unwittingly spreading evil around our world, and that they should simply keep their beliefs and thoughts to themselves in the best interests of humanity, or suffer the consequences for their actions.

People should consider that the world would be like Heaven if religion ceased to exist, but all the believers and preachers have turned the planet into Hell.

Religion itself, a shared system of belief, seems to be inherent among humans. From prehistoric times to today worldwide, we see that many, if not most humans express a need for a spiritual context for their lives.
Whereas religion has often been named as the reason for many wars and genocide, I believe that religion has been used as a mask for hatred, greed and the desire to unrightfully obtain power and control.
I have read the conclusions of some learned people who seem to agree that the best way to disempower and gain control over a people is to attach and invalidate its religion and spiritual leaders. Give an example of a "religious" was and the real reason behind the stated reason is usually apparent, pretty quickly.
Yes, religion deserves respect; peoples religious choices deserve respect.
People, governments and other self-interest groups who hide behind the facade of religious devotion to commit wrongdoing deserve to be exposed to the Light of Day./

I feel it is there and the misguided people deserve respect but not the religion it's self. These people need help to understand they are serving a man and not a god. There is no god to serve so they are being taken for their money and for the power that large masses of people can provide.

It seems that most people are weak minded and require a higher power to be able to survive and be able to keep going. The thought of death with no after life and it all ends with a stop and there is no more, is just too much for them to cope with. So religion is still required at this time and age in human development.

Human emotion drives many things;especially Wars.It so happens that many people believe deeply in their religion,so that may be a trigger for many wars.
Religion is MAN-MADE.What is more important(to me), is a sincere belief in God.Many ppl have many ideas of what "God" is;some ppl don't even need their "god" to be in a human form.

Religion(any & every religion), DOES deserve respect if only for 1 reason. At least they seek the time and effort to seek something more than what is in the material world, which is more than someone totally ignorant should deserve.

Religion will have my respect when it earns it. As for now, nothing has done more to retard the development of science and knowledge and nothing has done more to cause wars and mass genocides. So no I don't think it deserves much respect.

I think that people's beliefs deserve respect, regardless of my agreement with them.

It is fair to say that the establishments of religion have caused many (or most) wars. That doesn't mean that "religion" as a concept is bad, just that the way humans have practiced it thus far is flawed.

Most definitely, it deserves the utmost respect..religion doesn't start wars, people and leaders do..when the people of the world respect others religious beliefs, then the wars of the world will subside for a brief period and the leaders and people will find a new reason to fight

Since it's the reason for most things that are bad, it doesn't deserve respect. It deserves being fought out of the world.

The reason for religion is the community of like minds. The fact of abuse and wars is from zealots. Religion, in of itself, deserves the respect of faith in God. How you handle that for yourself, is personal responsibility and choice.
