Well last night I made Chicken Wings, and I put a garbage bag on the floor to put the bones and and such anyways when we were eating my dog must have went over and got a bone, cause when we looked where she was she was chewing it and by the time I got over to her it was gone. I'm pretty sure it was not a cooked piece it was just one of the wing tips that I cut off of the actual peice that I cook. anyways this morning she threwup and there were a few pieces of bones in her throwup. I wanted to know should I make her throwup again? or is she fine now? I'm very worried.
She is going to the vet later today for a Kennel cough shot because we have to leave her at a kennel for a week (have to take an unplanned trip) so if you let me know about what I should do I"ll let the vet check into it,

*** BY the way she is a little shih-tzu*** she seems ok now that she threwup, but like I said she is going to the vet later today for a shot so if I need to get her checked out about the little chicken wing tip bone that she ate I will ask.

If she is acting as normal, she is likely fine..since she got rid of the bone pieces she couldn't digest.. She may barf again, but she is likely just fine..The biggest problems with bones are being able to get past the throat and rear-end..So, it sounds like she took care of that in her own way...very smart dog!
Dr. Mike, DVM (on line vet) says that in all his years of practice, before he retired, he had never seen a case where the bones did internal damage..he had heard of it, but never seen it...the harm is usually at either end of the digestive tract..mouth, throat or rectum..(getting stuck)..Raw bones don't splinter..

If what you saw was likely most of the bones that she ingested then she will probably be fine. Chicken bones are nasty little things when they are in the intestines though. Watch for signs that there may be a blockage caused by a bone fragment: change in normal behavior, ie not eating, drinking, fever, lethargy, apparent physical discomfort and loose stool.
A vet can do xrays to see if there is an intestinal blockage. If it was just the wing tip and she did vomit some bone pieces, she may be just fine. Be sure to tell the kennel workers about the incident so they will watch for signs of a blockage. Otherwise they may just assume the symptoms have to do with his being kenneled. Make sure they write it down on your dog's file and you should call them while you are gone to make sure he's allright.

Be sure the kennel also knows. Bones can get stuck anywhere in the digestive system. Often times there may end up being blood in the stool where it scratches the lining of the bowels. This scratch could also get infected. Just because she seems okay now do keep an eye on things. Monitor her eating, drinking and potty to make sure there is nothing stuck in the bowels.

IF the dog didnt choke on the bone, there probally wont be an issue. Also, it dosent matter if it was cooked or not, dogs are scavangers by nature and have a heartier digesitve track than humans. If your still worried, take her to the vet and have him do an x-ray of the dogs gut, that will let you know if there are any sharp pieces that need to be gotten rid of.

Just tell the vet. Your dog is most likely fine. Remember that dogs in the wild would eat bones, so don't fret. It was only a chicken bone, not an elephant bone. It could cause problems, but chances are she is fine.

I'm pretty sure you don't have to worry about your dog. If a piece of bone had punctured her anywhere she'd be in distress before now. It looks like she chewed it up into small pieces if she's throwing it up. You should let your vet know about it anyway, but I'm sure your dog is safe.

Well you may as well talk to the vet about while you are there. I think she will be okay... so long as the bone wasnt too big and doesn't get stuck in her intestines she should be fine. Just talk to the vet.

aks the vet for an xray, i think the bone shards may have hurt the dog, it depends on eht soze of the dog, but i would really explain this to a vet, he might have even contracted eboli, usually fatal, i would get him to the vet asap to get some xrays, sounds like the bone hurt him.
