Most people I know that have went from brunette to blonde regreted it, then they can't get their natural color back. I would just put highlights. But if you are determined to do it, I would go to a professional.

You could go that light, but it will fry your hair, not to mention take so much time to keep up with lightening the roots every 2-3 weeks. Doing it yourself will especially be a mess & having it done professionally will be very, very expensive. You should only go a couple shades lighter than your natural hair color, or get highlights, which damages it enough but you could keep it conditioned and the roots won't be as noticable when growing out.

Bleaching takes the color out and dries your hair. To go from dark to light, I believe you have to totally strip out the color, then add back in color and tones.

Suggestion you start with blond highlights/foiling and see how that looks. And have a licensed hair stylist do it. If you like that, then have her slowly change the color lighter and lighter.

Your skin tone, facial color, will make a difference if you look good with lighter hair.

The easiest is to just go buy a wig of the color you want, no fuss, no hassle.

Have it done by a professional. Bleaching is very severe. Only the professionals know what intensity of bleach is needed for your hair to turn light and then blonde.

Trust me get it done proffessionally. I tried to go from red to blonde a couple of years ago and I destoyed my hair completely . I had to shave it all off and it's taking forever to grow back (it still hasn't grown back to the length it was after two years). I was pretty much bald at the time but at least I'm a guy (for women it's not a good look!)

Don't risk it. I'm getting mine done propperly in a few months. It will cost quite a bit but it's worth it not to be bald again! Don't let it happen to you.

Its more complicated when your hair is dark. You will need toner or else you will end up brassy orange. You also will have alot of maintenance, every 2 weeks if your hair grows fast else it will look like you have a strip running down your part.Go to a beauty supply store like Sally and see what a consultant there says.Remember over fry your hair it will break off!

It would all depend on how dark your hair is to begin with. Darker hair requires a stronger chemical to achieve a lighter color, damaging your hair even more. If you are afraid to damage your hair, DON'T do it yourself, pay someone who is darn sure of what they're doing.

Don't do it. It'll dry your hair out. Just have your hair highlighted. My friend tried to dye her brown hair to blonde and it turned out reddish and so dry and brittle. It's been months, she doesn't like it and can't do anything until it grows out because it's so damaged.

Why?

Stay a brunette. Brunettes are WAY sexier than blondes!
