Other religious figures love or ask for relationship instead of obedience? Not that I know of, none that I've found.
In Christianity, we believe that by breaking the rule God gave them the first humans allowed sin into the world and there was separation between God and his creation. God and sin don't mix. So Jesus came to 1) die on the cross so we could get clean of sin; and 2) reveal to humanity who God really was. Show us his unconditional love for us.
It was love that motivated God to come to earth. He loves you. He wants you to know Him, not just follow a bunch of rules or religious rites. That's a relationship. God loving you, you loving God and the two of you working together to fulfill God's plans for your life. Those include being loved and supported and encouraged in community, thus there are churches, communities where those who seek God, follow God and those who are just curious gather to learn to grow and to love. Jesus said that his followers would be known by how they love one another.

Truly curious,
There are a lot of Christians that are caught in those denominations that treat it like a religion. Where the rituals from somewhere else take over, and the meanings get caught up with rationalized thinking of misguided people.
But if it's done right, you would have to read the parts of the Bible where God and some prophet are communicating to get an accurate idea of what the relationship is like. Maybe the miracles are cataclysmic, but the relationship is certainly active.

Jesus is not a religious leader, He is the embodiment of the living God. He is the Savior of mankind from all sin. By Him, the entire world was created. He knows you and loves you very much. He is not like people here on earth. His heart is pure, and He only wants what is best for you - He would never hurt you like people do. Christianity is a religion, but that is not what Jesus intended for people to do. He wants you to have a relationship with Him. You can know Him, just ask Him into your heart and let Him show you what to do next.

Yes, Jesus wants to be your friend. Don't get confused by what some people may tell you about Jesus and who He is. Yes, He is the Son of God, and yes, He died and rose again on the third day, and yes, it is through Him that we can have our sins forgiven and live with God forever in Heaven. While all of this is true, Jesus also spent 33 years on God's green Earth as a human being. Because of that, He knows what temptations we face and He can identify with how we feel when we are sad, hurt, despairing, etc. Jesus wants to be the friend that you can tell anything to, and He WANTS to hear about all the things in your life that are troubling you. He will listen, He will help, He will go to God the Father on your behalf, and He has already accomplished the one thing you and I could never do -- He has provided the sacrifice for our sins.
Here is a story about how a relationship with Jesus works:
FOOTPRINTS
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many Scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life, there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?"
The Lord Replied, "My precious, precious friend, I love you and would never leave you. The times when you have seen only one set of footprints is when I carried you."

Yes. Real Christianity is an ongoing relationship with the person of Jesus Christ. It is NOT following a bunch or rules or laws.
Here is a URL to a free online book that go into the subject more deeply.

In America, Christians sing a song that goes like this:
Jesus is all the world to me, my life, my joy, my all;
He is my strength from day to day, without Him I would fall.
When I am sad, to Him I go, no other one can cheer me so;
When I am sad, He makes me glad, He’s my Friend.
Jesus is all the world to me, my Friend in trials sore;
I go to Him for blessings, and He gives them over and o’er.
He sends the sunshine and the rain, He sends the harvest’s golden grain;
Sunshine and rain, harvest of grain, He’s my Friend.
Jesus is all the world to me, and true to Him I’ll be;
O how could I this Friend deny, when He’s so true to me?
Following Him I know I’m right, He watches o’er me day and night;
Following Him by day and night, He’s my Friend.
Jesus is all the world to me, I want no better Friend;
I trust Him now, I’ll trust Him when life’s fleeting days shall end.
Beautiful life with such a Friend, beautiful life that has no end;
Eternal life, eternal joy, He’s my Friend.

Luke 12:1-4 (KJV)
In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he [Jesus] began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
And I say unto you my FRIENDS, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

Christianity is a reliogn but having a non stop relationship with Jesus is the relationship. In other words the majority of Christians doesn't have a relationship with Jesus they are saved but no relationship with Him. My relationship with Jesus is like this I don't pray to him when ever I am go through something I don't pray to him whenever I want something but I pray to Him just to grow be in His presence communicate to him and and everyday I tell Him thank you for allowing me to live to see another day! That is how our relationship should be with Christ not just pray to Him when ever we feel like it or whenever we are going through something or whenever we want something God has fellings too! Knowing Jesus is the relationship.

You heard right. And yes Jesus is alive and living, just not on the earth as a human anymore, but as a spirit in heaven. The difference between Christianity and all that other non-sense is God (Jesus Christ) is after basically one thing; and that is He's after your heart (the subtance of ideas and thoughts that make up who you are) not just you heart, but the expression of your heart through prayer and worship to Him. Tides and offerings like you see in churches, prayer andworship, sometimes (usually very rarely) sacrifices and other things are all as far as I know that God considers and wants as expressions of your heart that your truely for God, you truely for Jesus Christ.
As far as sacrifice; usually God will let you know (mostly through men and women of God or through prayer; either way is valid) if he wants some type of sacrifice. For example in Genesis God asked Abraham to kill one of his sons as a test to see if Abraham would be faithful. Abraham was, and at the last moment before He wasgonna put the dagger in his son, God had sent an angel to stop him.
But yes Jesus wants to see everyone in Heaven but the only people gettin in are those that believe in Jesus Christ. So I guessyou could say that Jesus does want to be everyones friend so He can save them from a fiery place in eternity and will were still alive, so He can help us through faith and prayer.

It is a relationship because we have fellowship with a living and active God. he does exist, we talk to Him, He talks back. He doesn't sit idly by and let history go on around Him, but instead He is actively involved in it, but many think this isn't true and that God just sits back.
Actually, God is very interested in you and desires for you to have a personal relationship with Him.
THE BIBLE SAYS:
"How precious are your thoughts about me, O God! They are innumerable! I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand!" (Psalm 139:17-18b)
"'For I know the plans I have for you,' says the LORD. 'They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.'" (Jeremiah 29:11)
"God showed how much he loved us by sending his only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him." (1 John 4:9)

christianity is all about belief and faith. he doesnt want to be your friend, he wants to be your father. your guidance and your strength. he will carry you through bad times and be with you through good times. dont worry about other religious figures. just hold tight to god and let jesus be your saviour. christianity is both a religon and a relationship. you should take all your burdens to god and hold on to him and be loyal to him. at the same time, to better serve him, you should study his word and his law so you will not be completely lost.
