Well... I went into my old job today just to say hey and see how everything was going... they gave me a letter from the Inland Revenue. How do i know if they owe me money i mean i used to get taxed loads and was only 16? They used to take like 20-50quid of me everytime? I left when i was 17 im now 18 and i dont get taxed at my new job?

On the form it says In this employment 2314.04?

I mean is that how much i have been taxed in the year of working there?

You surely asked questions of your old employer about the tax you were paying, and you surely had a notice of coding from the Inland Revenue.

Both should have been able to sort the situation out well before now. That's commonsense.

thats the amount you earned while you working for them.

all i can say is ring the tax office and find out yourself.

and in your new job find out why you not paying tax coz you will end up with a bill from the tax office and you will have to pay it.

unless your a student at the moment and working during holiday periods thers no reason why you shouldnt be paying tax.

good luck

yes what you have to do is contact the office that was issues by.
every year in april your current job issues you with a P60- which you send off to the relevant tax office- they then calculate the tax and if they owe you money they send it back.
So contact the relevant office to that P45 and see how it is- i dont know how it lies 2 years down the line but you may have been taxed the right amount!

Just give them a ring. They are there to help and will explain. They too are human and pay taxes. If you want to get annoyed blame the government, and since you have the right to vote.....
