I think you'll find that if you ask a sensible and genuine question most Christians will be happy to give a sensible reply. Many questions on this site are nothing but abuse and offensive remarks, sometimes not even pretending to be questions. Its not surprising that some people become touchy when they are insulted because of their beliefs. Can we all honestly say there is nothing we would be touchy about?

I think that's a generalisation...I think that everyone becomes touchy when they feel threatened. I don't think this touchiness reflects on the strength or otherwise of their faith.
I think lightening up is the best option for everyone.

Christians are touchy because they are attacked because of their beliefs. If you look at the responses in general you will see this to be true. Is this any different than if someone makes a personal attack against you, such as saying something about your mother or attacks something that you hold dear. It is the belief that that they to defend God against the people that attack Him. Is it no different than if I say because you do not believe that Jesus-Christ is the son of God and that unless you accept him that you will spend eternity in Hell. That scares people just on the possibility that this is true and and they respond defensively whether they say the believe in God or not. Also, they may not be secure in their faith with the attacks of Satan prevalent in today's society so when they are attacked they respond in in defensive manner. What Christians need to remember is that is God is God and He can handle Himself.

Many seem to feel threatened when logical questions are asked. It makes them have to think about the reasons that they believe at all.
Religion is generally passed on from parent to child. The child often accepts the beliefs at face value, without any further investigation.
It's important to read the Bible. It's also important to read authors like Bertrand Russell, Stephen Hawkings, Richard Dawkins, Spinoza, Nitchze and Margaret Sanger, just to name a few.
People should be well educated and informed before deciding upon their spiritual or non-spiritual paths.

Is not that mosy religious groups and sectarian societies are touchy. Its the very nature of being a group to want to exclude yourself from those that are not right about things you know you are.
There something in that somewhere
Go fot it Lisa

Is it because christianity is being attacked on all fronts? Recent examples are hospital chaplains being dismissed, crosses removed in chapels, Inner Change Programme being stopped and critiscised because it teaches christian values like the sanctity of marriage. That beleive it or not was said to offend homosexuals! There are so many other daily instances that you cant blame christians for being concerned.

Because they have a very tenuous grasp on reality that requires a lot of concentration to hold on, to. If anybody questions their faith, they have to be more avidly faithful, as that is all they have.
Don't moan, I'm entitled to my opinion.
Complaining just proves my point...

It's not so much the Christians that are touchy, but uninformed people who seem to want to slag off other peoples beliefs.
