No, the catholic Church does not allow premarital sex. As another poster said, it is still done. yes, this is hypocritical, but nearly every Christian faith forbids premarital sex and they do it also.
Sex is a gift from God to be used to strengthen the bonds of marriage and for procreation. Think about it. Isn't it much harder to break up with someone and isn't the pain of a breakup much worse if you have had sex with that person? That is because of the psychological bond that is formed when you have sex. This is because you have given yourself completely to another person.
Having sex before you get married is ;living a lie. You say you are not married, but you are not acting that way. Also, when people have sex frequently outside of marriage, you start forming an attitude that other people are there for your personal sexual pleasure. This dehumanizes people and diminishes the beautiful gift of sex from God.

No.
Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."
Fornication, sex between an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, is contrary to their human dignity and the dignity of human sexuality.
Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.
The purpose of sex is to bring a husband and wife closer and to create human life.
With love in Christ.

I think it's a big difference if you sleep with someone who you actually want to spend the rest of your life with and if you just *** around happily without any thought of what you're doing....I think one has to seperate the two. If I love a person I won't need to get married God would know anyway...I doubt there are many catholics who follow the no sex before marriage thing but I doubt the church would have any members if they were totaly against that and kicked everyone out

Premarital or extra-marital sex is considered fornication which is against the precepts of the Catholic Church.
[1 Cor 6:9] Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor practicing homosexuals
[1 Cor 6:10] nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.

It is NOT encouraged, but it happens, just like in Islam. Many who CLAIM to follow a religion only do so on the surface. Many muslims drink, and that is forbidden in the Qoran also. Many other religions also forbid it, but they all have their share of drunks too. The Bible does not forbid it, nor sex, but asks that we respect each other, and God, enough to refrain.
