A firewall port over ride number is a port number that you tell your firewall to not block content from/to.
By default firewalls are designed to not allow port access, if you trust a particular engine then you open the port to access therefore telling the firewall its OK to access that particular port. Each engine will have a different port that they need access to and the software you are trying to use will usually tell you which port to open.
NOTE: Do not open your firewall to any port until and unless you trust the application thats using it. A firewall is a protective boundary that monitors and restricts information that travels between your computer and a network or between your computer and the Internet. This provides a line of defense against someone who might try to access your computer from outside the firewall without your permission

a port number is a connection from your computer to the web
any ports can be used to access your computer, if you block certain know hacker ports (which is what a firewall does) then you will be safe from outside attacks. you can override these port numbers by allowing certain ports of your choice to your computer
