Start by filling out a FAFSA, you can do it online.
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

Then go to your local library and get a book on scholarships. They are usually in the reference section.

Hello there. I hope I can be of some help to you.

First, your age is important, and you didn't tell us what it was. Based upon that, I would recommend that you go to your local Social Services office in the town nearest you
(assume you are American). They will interview you and determine your family and residency situation and then introduce you to some of the Programs which may assist you financially.

If your financial aid has to do with education needs, I recommend that you call your nearest local community college and speak to the official in charge of things lile Pell Grants. If you attend school full time, and meet the financial requirements, you may get as much as about $850 to $900 per quarter plus your tuition and books while attending school/per semester.

Many programs are available to needy people. Exactly what your needs, employment history, medical and physical problems, and family situation are will determine the kinds of programs which you can sign up for. Some programs are government based, and others are operated by the state. The state operated programs vary in elegibility and provisions from state to state. So, you will have to check in your state to see what those programs offer.

Are you a Katrina Strom Victim? If so there are a whole bunch of things available to you. You need to contact the Emergency Services Coordinator in your County to get the contact numbers for people who can get you into the right programs.

And last, if all else fails, contact the Pastor, Priest, or Rabbi of your local community church and talk in provate with him about your situation. He should be able to give you positive guideance into the area of help you need. That church might even have a program which will provide one-time assistance directly to you to get you started.

Good luck and Best Wishes for your success.

go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and fill out the free federal application for financial aid. you'll need last year's tax info for you and your parents - might be a good idea to sit down and fill it out with your mom or dad to make sure it's all done correctly. the gov't will send te info to schools you're interested in, and they will offer you a financial aid package consisting of grants, scholarships, and/or loans.
