What is patronizing in saying I am going to Pray for you? It does not hurt you or require your belief.
Peace!

With loving kindness. People who say they wish to commit suicide MUST be taken seriously and guided towards professional help. Anyone who considers suicide must be in serious pain and as a Christian empathy and love are the only answers.
By committing suicide you are condemning your soul to hell forever. Years ago in Britain (when we were a Christian nation) if you commited suicide the priest/vicar would not give you a christian funeral. Which was terrible for the family at a distressing time.
As Christan's we can hate the act of suicide but love and care for the person who committed it and their poor families left behind.

I would hope that they would respond the same way any other human would respond.
A response would be to insist that the person seek immediate help in the form of counseling and/or medication. This person should make connections with people they know love them.
If your teacher is looking for the answer, "Don't do it because it's a sin", well, my opinion is that is crap. I say don't do it because life is precious, we are only here one time, and regardless of the pain that the person feels, this too will pass. I suspect that many, many people have contemplated suicide at one time or another.

Listen without judging. Ask questions, but leave the other person to come up with answers. Be gentle. A firm side hug around the shoulders or holding of hands will help as well when it is appropriate. Do not write off anything they say as imagination or stupid. If it has brought them to this point, their fears are real to them. treat them that way. Above all, treat them with love and respect.

I have actually been confronted with this by a man I see at work but we're on different shifts and I don't see him too often or get the chance to talk to him. he just came back from Iraq and lost many friends over there. some are right that telling them it's evil or that you'll pray for them is the wrong way to go about it. you have to comfort them with the word of God. Show them that God loves them. it's a hard situation to go through but the Bible really holds a lot of spiritually uplifting messages. God bless you and good luck on your homework.

I would like to believe that a Christian (or anyone for that matter) would respond in the only way you could - with extreme love and understanding.
Most people become desperate enough to commit suicide because their lives are desperately missing the very elements we all crave - love and acceptance.
God's love is unconditional, and His acceptance is complete in Christ....this is what Christians should be able to minister above all.

"You shouldn't".
You know that there a three types of guilt? Guilt; statutory guilt (guilt with a consenting partner under the age of 16); and Roman Catholic guilt. Roman Catholic guilt is the opposite of Persil: it stains real deep down, it reaches the parts that other guilt cannot reach. It will remain long after you have ceased to be Roman Catholic and can only be cleansed by a long soaking in Purgatory (availble only from the Vatican, priced $10,000 a bottle).

It is written against Suicide in the bible. If you take your own life you can't inherit the kingdom of heaven. Now personally I don't think this was written when they made these drugs that make a person do it. They didn't have free will in that case to me so would they inherit the kingdomof life. Something to think about or add in your paper

God's greatest gift to us is the gift of our mortal bodies. If we kill our self's we are rejecting his greatest gift and it is a sin. We are all here to take life's journey. The path we go down will be different for each and every one of us. The plan is for all of us to try and end up in the same place. Suicide is murder and is a mortal sin.

You should tell him her there's always hope and there's always someone who carsa about him or her. Also, tell him God will never abandon him. Finally tell him suicide is wrong, it's agains God's plan, and will make many people suffer.
But don't talk about hell, everlasting suffering, Avoid making the guy feel guilty, this is not the right way to avoid suicides.

Chritians have a sense to be judgemental as this is what the religion is basically is all about. God judges us and we judge each other. I just think it's a waste of a soul if you kill yourself. Don't let life beat you down lol
