It is said that Joshua ben Joseph's father and He were both tektons - builders. It is doubtful that they did much building in wood, looking at the scarcity of wood in the Holy Land even in those times.

More importantlly, Joshua (you call him Jesus) was most probably an Essene. They certainly spoke in allegorical language. "Raising [a person] from the dead" and "Water into Wine" were both allegories of converting someone from standard Judaic practice to the more austere Essene discipline. Of course, Paul (who never met Joshua except in a vision) did not understand that since he was far from being an Essene himself.

Joshua and His brother James the Just were pillars of the Kingdom of God that they tried to establish on earth. James was the priestly pillar after John the Baptist was executed. So, in an allegorical way, these two were trying to do what Freemasons allude to.

Regarding secret handshakes, well, hard to know isn't it? Those were secret and before the Internet.

I think he was a carpenter but was not in the union. I don't know how good he was but it probably was not his main trade since he didn't seem to make a living at it. He probably did have a secret handshake. Most of those clandestine societies were like fraternities and had secret rituals.

As far as we know Jesus did not have a secret handshake. like we have today. Why would God need a secret handshake? If it was a secret, no one on yahoo answers would know what it was.

Interesting thought. Can't Carpenters belong? Personally, I see Him more as a door-to-door salesman.
