There are ways to ask a sensitive question without attracting the ones itching for a fight. Phrase it as a hypothetical maybe?
Still, there are no "wrong questions" (if it really is a question, in the first place)
I wouldn't worry too much about offending people here...we're a thick skinned bunch (most of us anyway).
Edit: I read your other question. I probably wouldn't enjoy your company because of your politics but there's a lot of room on Y!A for us to avoid each other.

Ahh don't be silly. To be honest somebody somewhere will get offended by any question you ask, so really it doesn't matter cos you'll never win. If you have a view then go ahead and say it, it's a free world. But be carefull if you're gonna slate the white man for being bad dancers - same goes with "is it wrong to kill ants" or "should i buy new shoes" - some pro-kid woman will always say "some poor kid in cambodia earns 1p an hour to make shoes for you - you should be ashamed heathen".

There's nothing wrong with asking questions that may have controversial answers. But there are rules and guidelines posted for Yahoo Answers so that the people who really like the service don't have to sift through adult content questions or ones that are purely being posted to get a rise out of people. If it's a legitimate question you shouldn't be afraid of sharing your viewpoint. Just be sure it's being posted as a real question that opens up discussion instead of a statement.

just go ahead and do it - i do. Just because you ask a question doesnt always mean you agree with what you're asking anyway, it's just wanting to know. Keeping quiet would make yahoo answers very small. And your pc wont suddenly self-destruct if you upset a few people. Some people get upset whatever's asked. It's all relative. Publish and be damned I say!

I would hope that it is OK to ASK a question but NOT to make sweeping statements that are abusive to any race, colour, creed, sex etc.
Sadly there are too many disgustingly racist questions recently on this site and it takes YAHOO a long time to remove them - especially over the weekend and evenings.
You cannot keep everyone happy - but if it is a genuine question, I don't see why you should not ask it.

Depends on your motivation I guess. I think generally speaking everything is up for discussion (or should be).
I think if you are asking a question as a genuine query to gain understanding, then go for it. Some people on this site are abusive just out of habit - not because of the question being asked!!

Why are you scared? Just ask it... its not like people know where you live and it wont be the end of the world if you ask it, I think you will find alot of people like controversial questions on here. Good Luck with picking the best answer when you finally become brave enough to ask it.

It depends on how much you care about upsetting other users. A lot of questions are based on people's opinions so there is almost always going to be someone who gets upset and disagrees with your opinion.

So bloody what?

Don't worry about what other people think. If you want to post a question post it. There is no wrong kind of question except the ones that don't get ask.
