I am worried that I am having RAM problems, and my comp may crash. How do I completely back everything up from my machine (a Dell Latitude D810 laptop) onto my portable hard drive?-Thanks

Use Norton Ghost or Iomega Automatic Backup Pro and create a system backup. Most external drives come with some program like that.... You can download the latest version of IAB from the Iomega website.

Since you're dealing with an external portable drive, you'll want to use something along these lines (a program that creates a complete disk image which can be restored by booting from a CD while your portable drive is attached) instead of a straight HD cloning program which may require a 2nd hard drive attached internally (and for notebooks, probably a special cable to accomodate 2 drives)

I usually make use of commercial software to backup my computers. For me this is StompSoft's PC Backup. The main reason for this is that it simplifies the process and allows you to pick and choose what you want and don't want.
