Luk 18:30 who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the age to come eternal life."

Jesus is not talking about divorce here; what He is talking about is someone who is married still having Jesus and the work of the Kingdom of God as the top priority in their life. If we have a family, God commands us to take care of them, but not at the expense of doing God's work if we are one of His children. The bottom line is that a Christian is supposed to have their priorities straight and God will take care of the rest.

Jesus spoke in parables many times, revealing spiritual truths that were not simple to understand, I read the bible a bit before becoming a Christian and none of it made sense. It wasn't till after I accepted Jesus that it all suddenly fit together. Even the disciples in the gospels were usually two steps behind, it wasn't until the day of Pentecost that they finally got it.
Jesus is illustrating the level of commitment faith in Him requires, He must be your first love, not your only love, but your first love.

If your family become a block to you serving God then bypass them and server God.. No where did He say don't live up to your commitments. No where did He divorce your spouse. A man/woman keeps their word. In a marriage promises are made that must be kept... Jim

When Luke said one who leaves house, wife etc., he never said they will not return. It was not divorce. He was talking about missionaries leaving home to teach the gospel. Example were, Peter, Stephen, Paul and the other apostles and disciples. They were not able to return to their homes because they were killed before they could do so. Christ was talking about leaving and sacrificing the comforts of home in obedience to his command to spread his message of peace and love to all mankind.

Peace and Love.

I take it to mean that Jesus wants us to live our life by His teachings regardless of how much the rest of the world oppresses us. Even if my wife or father or neighbor continually berates me and harasses me because of my faith, I'm to remain strong in my beliefs.

He did not say divorce. If all these things are more important than your relationship with God, then you are not living in the way.
