You got a right to my sympathy.
Not sure of your legal rights but if they live with you they do have to follow house rules, you need to talk with your spouse privately and make sure that you are on the same sheet of music. Children will naturally try to divide and conquer, even if they live with both natural parents.
Its a tough job and 14 is an ugly age, the real loser if there are any is the child because if they call the shots now they will be sorry later.

If the biological mother is in the picture no you do not. You have legal guardianship and should be in agreement with your husband about all things dealing with the children, but if you try to be the mother the child will only get angry with you. It is tough being the step mom because if you do something the child does not like you automatically become the evil step mom and she will always look at her as being the bad guy. Try to sit down with your spouse and come up with some guidelines like how to handle punishment. The child will be less likely (not completely unlikely) to fight if she know the father and you are in agreement. ( i have 2 step kids myself it is not easy.)

I believe you have NO rights unless you adopt them legally. Just getting married to the father gives you no legal rights. You actually have to go through the process of adopting them.
And if the Biological mother is around and cares that isn't gonna happen.
If the father were to die you would not automatically get custody of the children. Their biological family (grandparents/mother/aunts/uncles) could take them.

No, you do not have the same rights as the biological mother of the children, unless she's given up her parental rights or has passed away, AND you've legally adopted the children.

You have the same responsibilities for sure - and some of hte same rights - it is a hard tow and not a fair one to boot - but it IS what you signed on for so you have to do your best.

I would check with a lawyer, as state laws may differ.
