Is this that obsessive compulsive disorder? I don't know what the P stands for. All I know is it is a life debilitating disorder. It consumes all of you and your life becomes very stressful and painful. Your life revolves around whatever obsession you happen to fall upon, and it is on your mind all day, every day. You know its crazy and you should stop it, but you still have to do it. Whether it be washing your hands to get the germs off, pushing light switches to make sure they are off, constantly checkin door handles to make sure the door is shut, lining things up in straight lines, walking through a door 10 times before you can actually walk through it etc crazy crazy, yet necessary, rituals.

OCPD is obsessive compulsive personality disorder and describes people who have at least 3 of the following:
(a) feelings of excessive doubt and caution;
(b) preoccupation with details, rules, lists, order, organization or schedule;
(c) perfectionism that interferes with task completion;
(d) excessive conscientiousness, scrupulousness, and undue preoccupation with productivity to the exclusion of pleasure and interpersonal relationships;
(e) excessive pedantry and adherence to social conventions;
(f) rigidity and stubbornness;
(g) unreasonable insistence by the patient that others submit to exactly his or her way of doing things, or unreasonable reluctance to allow others to do things;
(h) intrusion of insistent and unwelcome thoughts or impulses.
This is NOT the same as obsessive compulsive disorder which is:
an anxiety disorder characterized by recurrent, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and/or repetitive behaviors (compulsions). Repetitive behaviors such as handwashing, counting, checking, or cleaning are often performed with the hope of preventing obsessive thoughts or making them go away.

So..
It's sad to say that Kidney Disease is the new American epidemic that attacks over 40 million people ever year and over 200 million worldwide. 10 months ago my Doctor told Me these depressing words "Your Kidneys Are FAILING!". I didn't know what to do to heal my kidneys I was terribly worried about being chained to a dialysis machine for the rest of my life. Luckily I was able to almost completely reverse my problems thanks to some great doctors here in Chicago.
I also found many interesting and eyeopening info about my condition on this site http://kidneydisease.toptips.org. Check it out!
Have a nice day

a person with an obssesive compulsive personality disorder may do seemingly bizzare thins like wash their hands in a certain ritualistic manner and if they do it wrong they'll do it over again, like the surgeon played my michael j fox in scrubs, or they may switch a light switch on and off a certain number of times or avoid stepping on cracks in the pavement or any number of seemingly bizzare rituals. The only way to treat these disorders is with CBT cognitive behavioural therapy
