together or now that you live together. My boyfriend and I have been together 7 years and we dont want to ruin a good thing, so we are afraid to live together. We each own homes 20 miles apart but after 7 years of driving back and forth I am getting wiped out so i am highly considering buying a house closer to him, rather than moving in together any thoughts one way or the other? we are 40 and 44 years old and no kids.

If i were you I would go for buying a house closer to his. You know, living together can be an enriching experience but it will certainly expose many faults that you do not see by now.
If you do not need to live together for lets say economical or social reasons, if you guys can afford two separate houses, I would say, live apart and keep on sharing only good moments together.
If it works naturally, for example, you staying on his house for a long time on a row or the opposite, then you can think about it.
But if there is this fear of ruining a good thing, it is because deep inside you know that this risk is real!
You sound both mature and independent! Get the best out of life :-) Avoid the trouble! Good luck!
