Get a smooth skin one. Don't get those with large dimple skins. An avoid those with the star-shaped stud. Get those with the hole at one end.

The darker the color, the better. Try to pick one that is not too firm, yet not soft either. Some people say that you can sometimes smell the orange. It should have a faint, sweet smell

On ehow.com, they say that the heavier the fruit, the juicier. Look for a firm, smooth peel. The thinner the peel, the more fruit there is. Store the fruit at room temperature if you'll eat it in a week, otherwise, keep it in the crisper in your fridge for up to 6 - 8 weeks.

I always choose oranges that have dark skin and are a little tender to the touch, not real firm! They have always been good for me!

Get a HUGE bright orange navel orange, preferably a little deformed in shape. No seeds, and the BEST orange you can get.
If you want a more sour one, get the smaller oranges.
