It sounds like your bird is stressed as my mom's was. Her's was a parakeet. No feathers on it's back. BALD. He would consistantly pick at his feathers like a bad habit. The vet said he was missing some nutriments too. Good luck and I would too get the bird to a vet. I actually had a vet that only took care of birds.

Bird might also have mites which will make them itch and pull their feathers out. Sounds like a trip to an Avian vet is in order to rule out any serious illness issues. Mite spray is available at pet stores and is just misted on the bird.

First of all, what type of bird and is he housed alone in the cage? Sometimes, if two birds are kept together, one bird with take mutual preening to the extreme and pull out the other bird's feathers. If he is all alone pulling out his own feathers, take your bird to an Avian Certified Vet to get a diagnoses and the proper remedy.

When birds are molting they don't get bald patches so it's not molting. And it's not pulling it's feathers out because if it was it would be pulling out of the chest/neck/wing area..not the head. Sounds like some sort of irritation. Have you checked it for mites? I would take it to the vet...asap.

Hair loss affects both men and women. Here are some natural remedies that can help boost hair growth: https://tr.im/BYfF8
While genetics plays a role, there are other factors, including: hormonal imbalances, an underactive thyroid gland, nutrient deficiencies and insufficient scalp circulation.

I believe this is caused by not getting enough attention. Google up a parrot site and do some research.
