Only a fully qualified doctor can diagnose depression and it is dangerous to make assumptions or try and diy your own diagnosis. I would urge you to go and see a doctor, explain how you feel. Counselling is a very varied and broad therapy, there are many different types so maybe you just need to try something slightly different.

I'm certainly not a doctor, but I think most people experience feelings exactly as you described from time to time. You have described perfectly the way I feel when I'm suffering from stress. There was a time earlier this year where I was working too much and planning some major events in my life, as well as dealing with illness and there were times when I couldn't even stand being around my nearest and dearest. I obviously don't know what you're going through in your life at the moment, but it could be stress-related, or perhaps even frustration that things aren't going the way you want. I don't think it's necessarily clinical depression. As how to overcome it? I wouldn't like to give you erroneous advice, so best speak to a doctor or someone with real medical qualifications.
I hope it will pass and hope you'll be feeling better as soon as possible.

You are describing (although it is almost impossible to read) some of the symptoms of depression. Has it been going on for more than two weeks?
You should seriously go to your Family Physician and the first thing to focus on is your sleeping patterns. You need to be regular in your sleeping habits as lack of proper sleep can contribute to these feelings you have. Sleep disturbance, on the other hand is a possible symptom of Depression.
Do not depend on answers here but get expert advice and be open and honest with your doctor. Write it down before visiting him so you won't forget but DO IT

Well I've had depression for 16 years. and i know how you feel.
I hate it when people say pull yourself together...Its not as simple as that. Firstly you need to see your doctor and discuss the possibility of going on medication. Its nothing to be ashamed of. A third of the population suffer from depression of some kind. As waiting list can be so long sometimes (in UK) its best to see your doctor asap and don't keep putting it off. Ive been on medication for most of the time and had various counselling courses, some good some crap but it does help to talk about it.
Best wishes.

It sounds to me like you should try a different counsellor, get a second opinion, your symptoms sounds very similar to my young cousin, she was involved in a car accident, got pregnant and her mum died all within a year and she went through all the same things you are describing.
A good counsellor should be able to work with you to get to the root of your depression and then help you come to terms with it and help you learn to live with it.
If possible try to avoid anti depressant tablets as these in themselves can become addictive and cause problems for you trying to get off them in the future.
I hope some other young people who have had similar problems contact you because sometimes it helps to talk to someone who has gone through the same thing and you realise you are not alone in feeling like this.
Good luck for the future !

Please speak to your GP. It may take e few weeks to get a referral to a counsellor so do it quickly. Be very cautious about anti-depressants. I was depressed (after a miscarriage - who wouldn't be?) and I was put on anti-depressants. They eventually pushed me right over the edge. If you're really clinically depressed the tablets can save your life. If you're normal but just going through a low spot that would upset anyone - they can turn you into a raving psycho.

How old are you? Are sleeping well? Do you cry a lot?
Is there one thing in particular that makes you feel this way?
Feel free to contact me if you'd like to chat! Its a bit hard tell if someone is depressed through a q&a forum!

sweetheart go swimming take out your frustrations out in the water, it's also a solitary sport you don't have to involve or talk to anyone while you do it.
Go see a doctor, you seem to have issues there. Only a doctor can help you.
Good luck.
