hi there im currently finding it hard to tone up especially around my tum. Im 5ft 4 approx 9st and size 10-12 so far from over weight. i get plenty of physical exercise my job entails me walking for approx 3 hrs a day five days per week. I also go to gym 3 times a week doing about an hours cardio - 30 mins running or walking uphill on treadmill and 10 minutes each on 3 diffrent crosstrainers and sometimes another 20 minutes on bike burning approx 500 calories. I also do a full body weights work out split over the three sessions and abdominal exercises daily - 2 x 3 sets of 100 ab crunches plus sit ups and other exercises. Im a hell of alot fitter but havnt noticed any change in my figure. My diet is fairlly balanced usualy have cereal/toast for breakfast , sandwich for lunch and either cooked meal with plenty of veg or low fat micro meal for dinner. Only eat wholemeal bread and use semi skimmed milk, drink no added sugar diluted juice. Any suggestions?

Some advice : you need to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. The 45 minute thing is not true, but don't over 60 minutes at a time.

Do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Good luck and stick at it.

Most women have rounded tummys, despite what you see in magazines and movies. You are getting quite a bit of exercise and if you keep it up you will see changes
