headed to Iraq, in the army again has girlfriend with daughter and still loves me

It could be any number of things. Maybe going to Iraq has him thinking about his life and worrying that he won't come back and he's trying to tie up some loose ends in his mind.
I don't know how close you two were but it sounds like you made a big impact on him and he wanted you to know. Or perhaps you really made him feel loved when the two of you were together and he wanted to hear reassuring voice.
I don't think it necessarily means that he wants to get back together, especially if he's in a committed relationship right now.

Maybe he is trying to mend broken fences. If he's headed to Iraq, he's probably scared & needs to reconnect to his past. If he says he still loves you now, if he survives Iraq, he'll more than likely forget you when he comes back. Wish him luck & disconnect.

He's afraid and lost... you are not the same as you were 13yrs ago, nor is he...He loves the memory of the images he has in his mind of you and the two of you...
Sorry, this may not be what you wanted to hear, but I guess you felt doubtfull, otherwise you wouldn't have asked maybe...

Tell him it's nice to hear from him again after all this time & you'll keep him in your prayers while he's on active duty overseas . . .
& then tell him you don't "go back" - only forward. Let him know you care for him as a person & as a former love, but that's it . . .
I wouldn't answer his calls anymore.

I have this silly notion that once one loves one always loves the love may just change form...or maybe it was NOT love? why is he not married to mother of their child? maybe he doesn't choose to commit...anywhere? How old is he how old R U ?If you have feelings for him tell him and tell him you might want to visit w/ g/f to comfort her...see how he responds to that...can you tell him you love him as a dear friend and stay safe...?

He is going to fight a war and may not come back alive. Give him a few minutes of your time to say good bye.

Perhaps he fears not coming back, and he wants you to know he loves you. He may feel this could be his last chance to tell you.

SOunds to me like he wants a little action before he goes back. Tell him to go see his g/f and baby before he leaves and not to be such a LOSER !!
