Why are skunks always still alive afer being caught in a 220 conibear?

I have been trapping for 9 years. I have only caught 6 skunks in conibears but they are always alive when I find them. I have caught over 100 coon - every one dead. Even the 30-32 pounders!

Maybe the smell keeps them alive?
Or maybe you just have some unlucky racoons?
