I believe America is one big place headed for disaster in the near future. You should notice that currently the new law is that you have to get an I.D just to vote. Let me inform you a little bit about the present voting law which had discouraged voters and non-voters in the past. This will definitely encourage people to quickly forget the voting process all together. Quite naturally, the whites of America will totally be satisfied. Plus African-Americans can be easily persuaded. For example, here in Chicago, they raised bus fares. The masses reacted angrily for one or two days and then just calmly left this serious issue alone. Black folk don't fight back. We just take whatever the authority figures want to give us. Now our biggest voters, the middle-aged and elderly, will have to try to get someone to take them to get an I.D just to vote. Our society as a whole, is wrong. We as right people are entitled to our own religious practices. Above all, I firmly and most certainly believe, that God rules everything. So therefore I laugh at Bush and any other political aspiring figures, as they may also become president of the United States. That title doesn't mean a doggone thing in God's eyes. I cringed at Bush's statement wherein he said, "God told us as Americans, that we should go to war with other countries." Oh, please! The police with their vigilance and arrogance and Bush's new laws, can make it easy to tap into anybody's phone in the U.S, invading privacy laws. I personally believe that this is a "nose problem" and thus privacy is no longer ours. Cops can run up to 400 license plates at one time in order to nab criminals. Think of all the innocent citizens that will be violated this way. This world is ridiculous, in it's present form, with murders, rapes, corrupt cops, kidnappings and crooked politicians. I reason with you on why I feel ashamed of America. I hope I didn't write you too death. I just wanted to put in my detailed opinion as to how I feel. Peace to you and always remember this,"If God be for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31. God Bless

If you have a problem with the term "Holiday Trees" nothing is stopping you legally from calling them "Christmas Trees".
...that or move from Michigan. I know at least one of your neighbor states isn't doing the "Holiday" tree thing.

I also would like to make a point to your complaint about God being taken out of everything. Not every religion believes in the Christian "God". The only way to be *fair* in the USA at the current time in regards to religion and the public sector is to either remove all obvious traces of religion - OR - it would have to promote ALL religions (not just the Christian faith you are refering to).

There are a few problems with promoting all religions:
-- One is that it would take an exorbitant amount of money to work all the religions into the public - something tax payers will not go for.
-- Two, there are those people of Religion "A" who would not want to hear about Religion "B" or "C", would not want it mixed with the public, and thus would complain (aka they don't care about equal religious representation). For example, there are people out there who would riot if a course was required in high schools to teach all religions.
-- Three, it is difficult to determine WHAT a religion is and/or WHEN something can be called a "religion" by definition of law/political standards. While some organized religious beliefs are widely known as "religions" (ie: Christianity, Buddism, Jainism, Islam, Hinduism, Taoism, etc), there are a number of other groups that are not recognized for various reasons. (ie: A large number of cults fall under here.)
-- If all religions were actively promoted by the government, there would be shouts from individuals/groups that -their- religion wasn't getting enough attention/money (overall or in comparison to another religion - take your pick). There would never be a time when EVERYONE would agree that all religions had fair representation.

So currently, the easiest choice for the USA governement at the moment is to remove it all in an attempt to be impartial.

Calm down. You are always free to practice your religion unless it involves sacrificing live chickens in a public area. Athiests don't care about you, they don't recruit, and foreigners aren't making the rules. Whoever "they" are haven't destroyed the Christmas tree. Christians destroyed the Pagans and kidnapped the decorated tree as their own. It might comfort you to read some Pagan theology--no rules.

Christmas trees are pagan any way. They have nothing to do with Jesus. Christmas trees, Easter bunny's, candy and eggs , have nothing to do with Jesus. Yes this is the land of the free. You can be what ever religion you want to be, but that does not give you the right to push your religion on other people. Religion should be kept out of some things like schools. That's what Church is for. Learn about that stuff there.

your question contradicts itself. you ***** about "practicing what religion you want" then you complain about not getting your Christmas tree.

America is not comprised of JUST Christians ya know. and the FREEDOM of religion means ALL religion. it doesn't say...freedom to practice Christianity.
75% of Americans are Christians...id say your the majority.
the rest of us are ticked because you guys are oppressing us. seriously! WE can't openly be Jewish,Muslim,Buddhist or even atheist w/out you assuming this or that.
you can't use that freedom banner for your cause only, that banner covers us ALL.

now let me ask you this....if every morning when you woke up and your neighbor yells at you with a cheery smile on his face "Satan Bless you!", and then you pay for your morning coffee with money that has "In Satan We Trust" written on the font of it..then your children have to stand at attention..place their innocent little hands over their hearts and say, "One Nation Under Satan." wouldn't YOU be pissed off?
that is an outrageous thing! isn't it? ISN'T IT?

so imagine how some of us feel about it. and you telling us to "stop making a fuss...and the hell with that noise" is about as close minded as you claim US to be!
I'm ashamed of America too, the America YOU wish it would be sounds like a HORRIBLE place to be.
and HELL NO i won't shut up. (no offense), but no one will speak for me..but ME, and i HAVE THAT RIGHT! don't like it?
i hear Canada is lovely this time of year.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone really gets it!

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

....where in this statement taken directly out of our constitution does it say "separation of church and state?" it doesn't say it at all..it says that Congress will not establish a religion ..it also says that it can not prohibit a person FREELY EXERCISING their religion..it says I have the RIGHT to FREE SPEECH but if I talk about Jesus I am persecuted if I want to pray at school it is a crime and if I tell someone that being gay goes against Divine order I am accused of HATE CRIMES while I am still suppose to be able to speak my mind. However people can still mock Christians and call them weak and there is no problem whatsoever. We have a MUCH bigger problem than freaking CHRISTMAS TREES people...Our so called constitution is under attack and we really have no rights at all anymore, unless we are being "politically correct". people need to wake up and see what the real issues are..THERE IS A BIG MOVEMENT TO TAKE GOD OUT OF AMERICA...and they use this so called "SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE..YET IT DOESN'T EVEN EXIST

Eh, who cares what other people call your silly trees.

Secondly, and it should have been firstly - Are you serious?? You think that you cannot practice your religion? Athiests are not taking god out of your lives! They are just not accepting god into theirs. It has nothing to do with what you want to do. You still have the same amount of religious freedoms as you have ever had.

Now try being the only Jewish girl in school around Christmas time and having to be subjected to ignorant teachers making fun of your nose and skin color because you are Jewish. At that moment, I realized that religion is for people other than me.

I think that if you're ashamed of America by all means get out.I guess you've never heard of the separation of church and state either.Foreigners didn't make the rules.WE DID!Why do you feel the need to push your beliefs and terminology on others? There's a very simple answer to that question but I won't print it.You asked for an opinion. There it is...

If your faith is truly strong you will practice whatever faith you choose. Don't worry about what other people do or say. Remember that there are always going to be nay Sayers in every crowd. As long as you faith doesn't hurt anyone or intrude upon anyone Else's personal beliefs then knock yourself out. By the way i agree with you on the Christmas tree thing. I think this country is becoming to politically correct.

I'm ashamed of those Americans who try and put religion into our government against the wishes of our Founding Fathers and US Constitution.

No one is stopping you from practicing your religion, now are they? By the way, Dec 25th was stolen from the pagans and the trees are also pagan so rightfully they should be called holiday trees because they have nothing to do with christianity.
