The fighter, not the style, is the determining factor. The better fighter always wins regardless of style.

Given similar time in training, athletic ability and dedication, in a fight with no rules, kung fu practitioner wins. A TKD master will possibly outkick kf master but would not be well-rounded enough to counter the arsenal of techniques that the kf practitioner has (strikes, grabs, locks, pressure points, etc.). The biggest 'problem for the kf master would be bridging the gap to get within striking distance of TKD master. Once in, TKD master is not going to last too long against short-bridge techniques which will utterly devastate the body and organs.

it's been said before by others, and now I'll say it again. training, practice and dedication to the discipline, the type of discipline makes little difference of one discipline beating another, not the discipline itself but the fighter. I know it's prob'ly not the answer you're lookin' for but it's the only right answer.
by perfecting technique, and sticking with it, and training hard it doesn't matter the Martial Art, it's only as good as the one who learned it and continues to better the technique.
think of a kick: anyone can throw their leg up, and yes while that may hurt, it won't hurt near as bad as someone who has taken the time to find out a better way to use the technique and figuring out the ins and outs of it by trial and error.

a red sash in kung-fu would waste a black belt in taekwando. Theres no chance to get to the same degree in significance you have to train for much longer. to get your purple sash in kung fu it takes from 5-8 years and you red sash it takes from 10-15 and thats assuming they are coloured schools some schools jsut give you a scroll or a ranking degree for teaching 10-15 years and theres no marks of achivement till than. where as taekwando is not hard to get black belt comapred to kung-fu schools

Which ever person had a higher quality and frequency of training.
Training is everything, style is inconsequential.
