I am stuck between joining the coast guard as an AST and the navy as a hospital corpsman (and then later a sar corpsman). Does anyone have any information that can help stray me to or from the navy or the coast guard?

Thanks

if you become a sar corpsman you will be going to Iraq with a marine corps unit. if you didn't become a corpsman for the marine corps, i would say navy. but because of that i would say go coast guard. you be part of homeland security and easier to find a job with the department after you get out.

Be a Coastie and get the MOSTIE! The Coast Guard gives you all of the benefits of the military, but it's like being in an exclusive club. Trust me... Coast Guard over the Navy, you will be pleased.

GO NAVY. Get the corpsman training, then if you can take nursing courses to advance yourself. Just be careful that if you go Navy Corpsman you do not end up in a Marine combat unit. Great way to win the CMOH, but not always a way to survive.

Why Navy or Coast Guard? Go Air Force.

Have a niece that is a Corps"man" in San Diego (lucky asignment!) She absolutley loves it, and has already received two prootions just from hard work and a good attitude. There are chances for addvancement, and the work is rewarding.
