fresh turmeric has to be dried and ground. it add color to food and helps in preservation

Fresh turmeric is very rarely used in Indian recipes. The powder is used a lot.

Fresh turmeric is a good antiseptic, so you can scrape it and use it on cuts. Also, as a face pack, but the trick here is to use just the right amount, or you''ll be called, "Sun-face"!

never used fresh turmeric and this is a good question i know powdered turmeric is used in mustard and alot of middle eastern cooking...i wouldnt even know what fresh looks like...
