i ws induced with all three of my children. and it is more intense than if your water broke on its own and you had natural contractions. cause the pitocin is used to make you start contracting, the contractions come closer and faster . the good thing is that after your water is broken it usually goes pretty fast from there. at least it did for me and my sister and some of our girlfriends too. i delivered from start to finish in 6 hours. but i would definetly get the epidural. why go throuh all that pain when there are options available to make you more comfortable. i also suggest that you use a focal point and just breathe easily through your contractions and keep your thought on your breathing and that should keep you from losing control. congratulations on you soon to be new arrival.. good luck im sure you will do fine..also depending on how well you are handling the contractions, is how often they up your dose of pitocin. the more the dose the faster and stronger the the contractions..but dilation is quicker and then you get to get to the pushing part of labor.

Make sure that you request the epidural before they give you pitocin. This way the doctors and nurses will have a heads up. Believe me when I say, they will forget all about the intense pain that comes with being induced, because they are only spectators. I've been induced twice, one C-section and one all out natural labor. Take my advice, don't try to do it without the epidural.

When I had my daughter I did not want to have an epidural. They gave me pitocin because I was not progressing fast enough. After a short time I took the epidural. It is much more painful than what your body does to you, but it is something that is sometimes necessary. My advice is for you is to see what your body tells you to do. Everyone handles pain differently.

Good Luck Sweetie. This is awesome. Not only do you get to bypass most of the boring stuff about labor, but you are going to see your beautiful baby soon. Congrats. Induction is actually pretty smooth. It is over quick and easy, but it will still hurt like hell! I recommend an epidural all the way. That makes it smooth, easy and fast!!!

With my second child - they put me into the hospital to induce me, put IV in and the works, just no meds to acutally induce just yet! Dr. came in and broke my water at 2pm, first contraction was at 2:15pm, she was born at 4:39pm. Depends on far dialated you all ready are, how big the baby is, etc as to how fast it will go - Good Luck

YES they broke my water with my son and since everyone is totally different. yours might be different then mine but i can tell you . once my water was broke the contractions started more intense then they were. but i had back labor which is the babys spin is rubbing against mine. i always commend the women who can do child birth naturally without any pain med. So epidural is a wonder drug now that i would recommend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure they use the stuff that softens your cervix. I was induced with out it and the labor failed to progress and ended up with an emegency c section.

Pain...
If you use pitocin, you will need an epidural, because its fast and furious labor
