I have been married for seven years. Most of my friends have been married longer. Out of all of them, 6 couples, only one couple was completely pleased with their wedding. They had an enormous wedding, bridal party of 12, huge church, tons of flowers, 500 guests, sit down dinner--no expense spared. It really was magnificent. The other five, along with my husband and myself, all wish we had eloped. I'm dead serious. If you ever think you should elope, you should. When you look back on your wedding, all of your memories should be happy ones, and if you think anything will not be positive, you need to avoid it. Recently, friends of ours eloped on a rooftop in Vegas, and we watched it live via the Internet. It was lovely, and perfect for the couple, who wanted their union to be private, but also didn't want to deprive their mothers the satisfaction. Any wedding is easily disrupted by the overbearing, the rude, the drunk...I say elope. Elope, elope, elope!!!

You should plan the kind of wedding that YOU want. If you want to be married in Hawaii under a waterfall with 50 of your closest friends and family there, then by all means go for it. If you want to get married on a mountaintop in Colorado, then do that. It sounds like you're thinking about a destination wedding, which is great, talk to those people that you most want there and make sure you're not going to put any undue burden on them with traveling, time off work, etc. My sister got married on a beach at Hilton Head Island, she lives in Atlanta, most of our family lives in Utah, and I live in Kansas, so everyone was having to travel for the wedding anyway, so she figured, why not have it someplace fun for everyone? It was great too! We spent 4 days there with her and her husband, and had a ball. So don't let people talk you out of a destination wedding if that's what you want. Best of luck to you.

You need to find out what defines you as a couple and go from there where did you meet what are your interests? what defines you two is what will make your wedding the same.I do not agree with a wedding that has been planned by the bride since she was four what brings out the best of you two do you like sports ? are you clubbers do you go on trios allot ? what is it that is going to make the wedding so you that every knows This is about the Bride and the groom that is what makes a wedding unique.

Most of the smaller weddings that I officiate are held on the beach. The couples always love it. It's romantic, simple, and affordable.

Best of luck to you!
